Phoenix College 6-foot-4, 190-pound sophomore guard Shayar Lee has finally found his fit.

Phoenix College 6-foot-4 sophomore guard Shayar Lee has signed with the University of Detroit Mercy.

After waiting very late to reach his decision on a school, the talented and athletic guard has reached a decision. A former transfer from Northern Arizona University, Lee recently signed a national letter of intent with the University of Detroit Mercy and Head Coach Ray McCallum.

While many schools missed the boat on Lee, he waited until even after the late signing period to reach his decision - but it all finally paid off for him in the end.

Lee had a very good sophomore season for Phoenix College Head Coach Matt Gordon, who also worked very hard to help his talented guard land a school this spring - a nice attribute of a college coach.

Lee averaged a team-leading 15.2 points per/game this season, ranking 11th in the ACCAC in scoring. Lee also averaged 5.2 rebounds per/game, ranking second on the team in this category as well.

Lee received interest this season from many division-I schools, but in the end it was Detroit that pulled the trigger on the athletic Arizona native.

In high school, Lee earned scholarship offers from such schools as SMU, UC-Irvine, Denver, Fairfield, San Diego, Montana and Montana State before choosing Northern Arizona. He also received strong interest from Miami, Clemson and Rutgers.

Lee is also a solid student and carries a 2.7 CUM GPA.
